The Ultimate List of Disneyland Treats

Honestly one of the main reasons I visit the Disney Parks is to enjoy their delicious offerings of sweets and treats. I could easily spend a whole day sampling all of the different options (which is why I LOVED the Epcot Food and Wine Festival). For me, a trip to Disneyland is not complete without most (if not all) of these tempting treats.

Starbucks Coffee and Mickey-Shaped Beignets

Market House and Mint Julep Bar- Disneyland

My favorite way to start at day at Disneyland is by attending rope drop, riding a few rides while the lines are short, and then enjoying a cute Mickey-shaped beignet. Usually Austin and I split up and one of us returns to Main Street to grab Starbucks and the other heads for the Mint Julep Bar. I know that Starbucks is not unique to Disneyland, but there is something fun about sipping my latte out of a cup that has Disney characters on it. The Mint Julep Bar is a perfect spot to enjoy a quite breakfast. Tucked away in the back of New Orleans Square, the Bar has a large outdoor seating area. We have never had a problem finding a table at breakfast, and in fact we are usually only one of a few parties in that seating area. You can get a 3-pack of traditional warm and sweet beignets for $4.49. They also usually offer a rotating flavored beignet (such as Dreamsicle or Blackberry). If you are looking for a relaxing way to start your Disney day I highly recommend the Mint Julep Bar. I mean, what is more Disney than eating something Mickey-shaped?

Matterhorn Macaroon

Jolly Holiday Bakery Cafe- Disneyland

Growing up in the South, Walt Disney World was my "home park." One of my favorite things about visiting Disneyland is getting to experience attractions that are unique to this park. The Matterhorn is one of my favorite Disneyland-specific attractions. While the ride is exhilarating and the music-loop is incredibly fun to sing (or try to sing- I can't yodel), the facade is what draws me to this attraction. Even more than Sleeping Beauty's Castle, the Matterhorn is the main landmark in the park. It can been seen from almost anywhere and really helps orient you in the park. When I discovered the pastry modeled after the Matterhorn I knew that I had to try it! Generally I am not a big coconut fan, so I was a little hesitant to try the macaroon. However, I was pleasantly surprised and genuinely enjoyed biting into the mini-mountain. Be sure to grab a few macaroons from the Jolly Holiday Bakery before facing the yeti in the mountain.

Swirl Soft Serve Ice Cream Cone

Paradise Pier Ice Cream Company- Disney California Adventure

I loved Paradise Pier and I am sad about the changes coming in April. I am hopeful that some iteration of this ice cream shop will be saved because it is the perfect place to cool down with an afternoon treat. It doesn't get simpler than a soft serve swirl in a cake cone, but that is what I loved about Paradise Pier. This land always reminded me of family beach trips where everyone could take it easy and relax. Unfortunately, this ice cream shop is closed during the pier refurb, but hopefully soon we will be able to grab some soft serve and soak in the good So-Cal vibes at the new Pixar Pier.

Cone and Popcorn

Cozy Cone Motel- Disney California Adventure

You guys. I am obsessed with Cars Land in Disney California Adventure. When I first heard that they were building this land I was pretty upset. I was never a fan of the movies and I didn't understand why they would want to devote an entire section of the park to Cars franchise. However, as soon as I visited Cars Land for the first time I was completely hooked. I was instantly transported to a sleepy town along Route 66. The theming and attention to detail blew me away. I mean the rock work alone looks like you are in a National Park. While there are a few great options for dining in Cars Land, I can't pass up the Cozy Cone Motel. With traffic cone-shaped buildings and a picnic-themed seating area this is a very cute spot to grab an afternoon snack. I always opt for some of the popcorn (the white cheddar and pizza are my favorites) and occasionally choose a cone for lunch. With 5 traffic cone shaped walk-up windows offering a variety of choices, including ice cream, churros, adult beverages, and popcorn, there is something to satisfy everyone's afternoon cravings.

Pommes Frites

Cafe Orleans- Disneyland

Do yourself a favor and make a reservation at Cafe Orleans. Although you don't always need a reservation you absolutely need to try their pommes frites. These thin-cut fries are seasoned perfectly with garlic and parmesan and served with an irresistible Cajun Spice Rémoulade. Honestly at least half the reason I get the frites is for the sauce. Cafe Orleans, situated in the heart of New Orleans Square, is a great spot for a casual lunch. I love taking a break in the afternoon to sit on the patio, people watch, and enjoy a delicious meal. You can also find some other popular items here, including the Monte Cristo and mint julep. Whatever you order, just be sure to include a basket of the pommes frites- you won't be disappointed!

Three-Cheese Monte Cristo

Cafe Orleans- Disneyland

Seriously-make a reservations at Cafe Orleans. If the pommes frites didn't already convince you, this cheesy, fried, and sugar goodness surely will! The Monte Cristo you can find at Cafe Orleans includes Swiss, mozzarella, and double crème brie all battered, fried, and dusted with powdered sugar. As if it couldn't get any better the sandwich is perfectly complemented with a side of Berry Purée. So no, you probably shouldn't eat this on a regular basis, but this is a wonderful way to treat yourself on vacation. I would absolutely recommend sharing the sandwich, because with the pommes frites and half a Monte Cristo, I am usually more than stuffed.

Hand-Dipped Ice Cream Bar

Clarabelle's Hand Scooped Ice Cream- Disney California Adventure

What is more fun than creating your own ice cream bar? I love visiting this shop whenever I am in Disney California Adventure so I can enjoy a triple chocolate ice cream bar. In addition to sundaes, floats, and scoops, you can pick from a variety of options for your ice cream creation. Choose a vanilla, chocolate, or sorbet base, pick your chocolate coating (milk or dark), and top it off with chocolate chips, Mickey sprinkles, or popping raspberry "bursts"(basically Pop-Rocks). You have a multitude of options for ice cream in the park but I recommend Clarabelle's if you are looking for a uniquely fun treat.

The Fun Wheel and Cotton Candy Lemonade

Cove Bar- Disney California Adventure

As I mentioned earlier, I loved Paradise Pier! I took any opportunity to sit and soak in the atmosphere of the pier and boardwalk. I recently discovered the Cove Bar and it was quickly added into my regular rotation of stops at Disney California Adventure. I am sad that it is currently closed for the pier refurb, but hopefully Disney will reopen the Cove Bar under some new Pixar-themed name. We will just have to wait for future news! Most people frequented the Cove Bar for the Lobster Nachos, I enjoyed going to sip on a colorful beverage. Both alcoholic and virgin offerings were available at this bar, along with a few appetizers and snacks. If you are looking for a non-alcoholic option I suggest trying the Cotton Candy Lemonade. I will say my cotton candy wasn't as soft as I was expecting, but it still looked cute and the lemonade was very refreshing. If you are looking for an adult beverage, try ordering the Fun Wheel off the "secret menu." This fruity layered drink is the perfect way to wind down and prepare for the colorful nighttime display you will be treated to during World of Color. I wonder if the new Cove Bar will have the same menu! I am very anxious to hear what happens with one of my favorite California Adventure restaurants.

Dole Whip Float

Tiki Juice Bar- Disneyland

This refreshing treat is the perfect way to cool off during a So-Cal summer day and is a true Disneyland classic. The Tiki Juice Bar is situated right next to the Enchanted Tiki Room, so grab some pineapple soft serve and prepare to be transported to a tropical paradise. You can't go wrong with the traditional Dole Whip but I recommend making it a float so you can also enjoy some sweet and tangy pineapple juice.

Drinks and Appetizers

Trader Sam's Enchanted Tiki Bar- Disneyland Hotel

I don't have a set order at Trader Sam's but I love going to this bar and trying anything off their fun, tropical menu. The atmosphere at this bar can't be beat. Whether I am sitting outside next to tiki torches listening to a ukulele player or sitting inside watching the hijinks, I always enjoy my time at this unique bar. One of the best parts about Trader Sam's is that you don't need a park ticket to enjoy this batch of Disney magic. Located at the Disneyland Hotel, this bar is open to the public. It can get very crowded so expect to wait if you arrive in the evening. I definitely think Trader Sam's is worth the wait and this always makes my itinerary on a Disneyland trip. The Asian wings, lettuce wraps, and flatbreads are great bites to sample while you are enjoying a HippopotoMai-Tai or Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Tiki Rum. Trader Sam's typically stays open past midnight, so this is a great place to relax and reflect on an exciting Disney day.

These are just some of the great options you can find at the Disneyland Resort. What are your favorite Disneyland treats? Comment below with what I should try next time I am in the parks!
